Do It Yourself Dub Club was founded some time in the mid nineties, nobody
knows
Exactly when, or rather formed by Carsten Bauer (ex-punk rocker guitarist),
and Rick Newton
(expatriot and multi-musician), who came together to knock up some tracks
on Carstens then new computer based recording system..
After creating 4 tracks or so, they decided to make the whole thing compatable
for a live set,
So invested in sampler, laptop, midi interface, etc., and connected the
whole lot to a live mixing desk, and put on some pretty impressive live
shows throughout the region.
By 1998 DIY Dub Club were doing a monthly regular in a Tuebingen night
club with guests
From all genrse of the musical world, and received critical acclaim throughout
the region
For the Tacko Bar sessions.
After producing two CD’s and countless live sessions, DIY Dub Club
slowed down, or rather
Redirected due to professional and familiar circumstances.
Carsten moved away to Nagold (Black Forest), and Rick split up with his
girlfriend, leaving
Him with loads of gear, but nowhere to set it up.
From 2000 on DIY Dub Club produced 5 music videos, and dozens of tracks
in all kinds of
Styles, for fashion shows, films, radio jingles, advertising and product
presentation, with sporadic releases (mostly on request of some dodgy
DJ’s), and again returned to the live stage with avengence.
Armed with a new reduced (but more powerful) live setup, and most importantly, new member Stefan Rosinski (flute, melodica, guitar and bass), and a new concept involving visual and accoustic artwork, DIY Dub Club took to the local live stages once more, leaving a trail of bewilderd, bemused, captivated and enthusiastic audiences behind them, always with requests to return and play again next week/month/year.
Due to public demand DIY Dub Club released their first 7” single in May 2005, as a limited edition for fans of chilled music who still use a record player and DJ’s alike.
With only 500 pieces ‘when the rain came’ c/w ‘Ball
of fire’ isn’t exactly going to storm the charts, but that’s
not quite the point of the release.
Fans of dub music seem to have found a new favorite with this one, a stereo
play story with
german tranlation of the day the rain came, using the finest of mixing
qualities to fill your ears with dub beats and sounds that only true fans
of dub music can fully appreciate. This doesn’t mean that other fans
of music won’t like it either.
Of course you can always download these songs from the internet address,
but it isn’t the same full-blown analogue quality as the 7”
single.
